G.A.D.???

Was just reading up on G.A.D. or Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It helps to educate myself on this disorder as someone I know suffers from it. After educating myself a bit about it, I now know better ways I can possibly help them through it. Knowledge really is power. Reading the article helped me to understand why certain things were even happening....so sorta therapy for myself as well. Here's a link to article. Good luck and good health to all.: www.helpguide.org/articles/anxiety/generalized-anxiety-disorder-gad.htm#signs

Game on!

Looking very forward to football season. Sadly, life without football is lack luster. Bad enough because of where I live , My team doesn't usually get televised....not without some high priced cable package anyway. I've always been a Chicago Bears fan and will die a Chicago Bears fan. I remember once being a cheerleader and my squad and I calling out the wrong cheers for the actual play of the game. I laugh at those days. Now I'm still no expert by any means but I've learned a thing or two about the game in my ripe age of 38. Now I can mute the game and tell what the refs play call is....not great but not bad either. I won't even bother with the excuse "I'm just a girl".....nah, but I am still learning the game....no shame in that. Here's to a great season for the NFL, especially My Chicago Bears!

Pet's Life

Pets , especially dogs have always been part of my life. But not till the last few years did I realize they were more than just household pets....more than just family members(although a very important job as well). Now I realize dog's especially are so much more to us as human beings. There are dogs that are obviously helping their human, such as seeing eye dogs for the blind. There's also dog helping their humans that you may not even notice are doing such. These dogs are known as Emotional Support animals.Emotional Support Animals first gained popular amoung P.T.S.D. sufferers, mainly Military Veterans. But not just military suffer from P.T.S.D. And not only can Military OR P.T.S.D. sufferers benefit from having an emotional support animal. Now don't misunderstand, Emotional Support Animals are not to be confused with actual Service dogs which have gone through classes and have official certification. With Service animals, you can NOT be denied access anywhere with you...

Sleep Tight

Skyral By The Haydee Rodriguez on a pillow Insomnia, that's one of the toughies. It seems to affect EVERYONE, not just people with mental ailment. The chances are just greater of you having insomnia if you have a mental ailment. My insomnia just seems to get worse as I get older, not better unfortunately. I've had insominia since age 9. As I come across a few more Great sleep hygiene techniques, I'll publish them in my future blogs. As of right now, most haven't worked.Melatonin has been helpful on occasion and so has reading myself to sleep and removing ALL electronic devices from the bedroom .I'll keep you , my readers posted on what else works for me and may work for you.

Write Now?

Hypergraphia: defined as the intense urge to write, has been quite present in my life. I think it's a way of coping through some of life's stressors. I few mental ailments, writing seems to help relive symptoms of most. Also a wonderful creative way to channel any energy in a positive way. Medications and therapy can only help to a degree. AS most of you ALREADY know, you must also take part in your own healing process. Hypergraphia hits me hardest when I'm lost, searching for another way but it also hits me when the occasional creative bug bites me. Till next time....till then...Write on!

Misdiagnosed

I know some of you at least have seen the TLC show " Misdiagnosed". The show's great, finding issues (Often life threatening) That were either missed completely or misdiagnosed. But what that show lacks is cases regarding Mental Health. I myself have been misdiagnosed at least once....also almost resulting in death. When I was about 15 I was diagnosed as having just Depression. THe DR. sent me home with some anti-depressants and sleeping pills. At first, I felt great....was literally doing cartwheels through the living room. BUT , several hours later I was trying to off myself on the sleeping pills I was also prescribed. Luckily I only managed to take less than 10, but even so, I ended up losing a day of my life. I woke up on the couch the next day wearing My clothes but clothes I wouldn't and hadn't worn in years. I was told later how my family the entire night previous kept yelling at me for several hours to "wake up!" I was given a cold...

Are you ready for some.....

Are you ready..... Now being a long time Chicago Bear's fan (Since 5 yrs old), I naturally always root for them. But don't get it wrong, I keep my eyes on the other teams as well. Mainly to see how they'll impact the wins of MY team. I get asked all the time, " Why do you root for the Bears?".I guess I get asked this question all the time due to the facts I'm not IN Chicago or from there. Some see the Chicago Bears as an underdog team. I see them as one of the oldest teams of the franchise with a lot of potential. Not to mention VERY fun to watch. A Chicago Bear's touchdown seems to feel more enthralling than watching the fans get excited over their team's scoring drives. I remember one time going with my family to watch the Bears play at a local bar and grill. A good time was had by all....but not at first. Due to the Extreme loudness of the Chicago Bear's fans during each play, my 5 year old neice became very frightened at all that racket an...
